Blake 2010

My poem “Song of (Someone Like) My Self”, an exploration of Self and self, place and identity, freedom and responsibility, and a riff on Walt Whitman, was highly commended in this year’s Blake Poetry Prize.

It’s an honour to have been in the running again.

Stephen Leeder’s “Encounter in Manhattan” and Margaret Collett’s “Perfume” were the other commended poems. Tasha Sudan took out the prize this year with “Rahula”.

“Song of Someone” appears in my collection Fire Diary, which appears on 1 October.
