At home on a Sunday with William Blake

My poem “At Home on a Sunday Trying to Find Nothing to Do” has just shortlisted for this year’s Blake Poetry Prize.

It’s a joy to be listed again for this prize, which I won in 2008 and was highly commended for last year. Blake’s space (heaven is where you are etc) seems to be my poetry’s native habitat.

It’s a very strong shortlist this year, worthy of Blake and a prize named for him. Spirituality is wide awake in Australian poetry, even if it’s asleep at the wheel just about everywhere else, in particular in the market place, which we seem to have mistaken for civic society.
